Vintage Repro Emporium is proud to offer Era correct Reproduction Inlay dots Referred to as "Clay Dots" that originally came on The PRE CBS slab board Stratocasters, Telecasters, Bass Models ect. From 1959-1964.
After extensive research and analysis of vintage clay dots ive reproduced these down to every last detail.
Correct Matrieals, Correct size and correct color.
Others offer dots that just look like the vintage clay dots, even made out of aged clay or yellow plastic type matireal......but the real vintage fender fretboard dots were never made out of clay, They were in fact made out of "vulcanized fiberboard" And when New were off white/cream in color, After some time the dots would turn into a clay like color hence why they were called "Clay Dots"
This set includes 11 Vulcanized Fiberbored fretboard inlay dots, And 11 side Dots....(I include one extra for testing on and on case you drop and lose one)
They Measure exactly the same Size as the Vintage inlays which are as follows:
Fingerboard Dots:
1/4 inch (6.35mm) in diameter
.065 inch (1.5mm) Thick
Side dots:
3/32 inch (2.4mm) in diameter
.065 inch (1.5mm) thickness
Weather you are restoring a vintage instrument or building a vintage accurate reproduction these are the dots you are looking for.....These are the real deal!!!
*AVAILBLE IN NEW CONDITION (Off White)
I do not offer these Aged, All inlays after installation require light sanding in order to be Flush and level with the fretboard, This sanding will remove a thin layer of the surface of the inlay in turn removing the aged surface.
I can include instructions on how to age them.....if you can't wait...
These will typically age after 6 months with moderate to heavy playing.
.......and they will age beautifully just like the originals.
Thanks for looking
