About This Listing

Laurie Williams is a master craftsman Luthier in New Zealand who has an impeccable reputation for building unique high end guitars only sold in a few high end shops in the USA.
This guitar is from approx. 2007, although it could be a year on either side of that. This one is very unique in that it is made from Ancient Kauri Wood. This wood was from forests in New Zealand from thousands of years ago that were destroyed. The trees this is made from were buried under Peat Swamps where they remained undisturbed and well preserved. The various Logs were carbon dated from 1500 to over 45,000 years ago depending on the area they were resurrected from. It is the oldest workable timber in the world according to Laurie.
Ironically, it is not petrified and still workable to build guitars from.
The sound of these is amazingly full and rich with great clarity. Most of the Materials used to make this guitar are native to New Zealand. The top is Waingarara Kauri, a species that only grows in New Zealand. It has a Tulipwood backstrip and purfling, twelfth fret Abalone Kiwi bird inlay, Madagascar Rosewood bindings, Ebony fret board outlined with a beautiful purfling, an Ebony bridge and Ghoto Gold 510 Tuners, which are among the best tuners out there. It's also in the original case that it came in.
Laurie has made 100's of guitars since the early 90's and his reputation continues to grow. Thanks for checking it out. I am selling this for a collector friend who cannot play anymore.
This has a couple very minor dings from playing it over the years, but an 8 of 10 condition as the pics show.
