They don’t get much cooler than this Goya Panther II! This Italian-made companion to the Goya Rangemaster
guitar features a unique off-set double cutaway contoured body with a gorgeous
sunburst finish and has a 31” scale. The
classic sunburst finish seems to fairly rare for the Panthers as most we have
seen have had a cherry sunburst finish. It
is nicely coupled with a white Goya-branded pickguard. The neck has a very slim feel, especially up
towards the nut where it measures 1 9/16th”. It sports a rosewood fingerboard with 21
frets and the distinctive elongated Goya headstock design. The two single coil pickups are controlled by
a crazy push-button system that allows for either individual pickup selection,
both pickups, or “off” (a mute switch).
Other controls include a master volume control and three push button
tone selection controls. It looks as
though the master volume knob was replaced at one point being that most Panther
basses we see have a large vintage radio dial-esque knob as opposed to the
small black knob on this Panther. Cosmetically
this bass has definitely been played, with a decent amount of scratches and
finish dings especially around the lower bout of the back and top of the body. The bass has been setup by our staff guitar
tech and all electronics have been gone over and tested. It weighs in at about 7 lbs 11 ounces. Overall this Panther bass is a fantastic and
intriguing-looking instrument that would make an excellent addition to any
bassist’s arsenal! No case included.
