History: Fote Vracus formed the F. Vracus & Company in New York City in 1914. They built various string instruments of their own design from the start. These instruments would be sold to various music stores in New York. They also supplied drums to the same stores. They assembled the drums using parts bought from the big drum makers at the time. Vracus added details to make the drums different from the drum makers. For this drum, they used a Slingerland 10” x 16” solid mahogany shell with maple re-rings. The strainer, butt, wound wire silk snares and single tension thumbscrews are also Slingerland. Vracus added the finishing touches using matching wood hoops with nickel plated brass beauty rings and the inlay work around the vent hole.
