My vintage HiFi journey began in 1972– when today’s vintage HiFi was contemporary. As a wide eyed twelve-year-old visiting (as often as possible) the local HiFi shops to ogle at Marantz, Sansui, Pioneer, JBL, Ohm AR, and Luxman gear. Budget realities resulted in the purchase of a used reciever from Radio Shack and speakers from local dump. However, an oath was made, and honoured. Fast forward decades later, I have the good fortune of acquiring multiple pieces of vintage HiFi gear on a monthly basis – comparing, testing and Restoring them. I’m now committed to sharing the love and learning of vintage HiFi.
Here is another Vintage item for you from; Pioneer 1970s Era. PL-41 Vintage Deck.
I’m offering a Vintage survivor of the 70s. It’s in Incredible condition 9.5 on a 1-10 scale. 1 imperfection in front where the Pioneer logo was attached it’s been repaired and covered with wooden veneer. Look closely at pictures and you decide. 1 scratch on dust cover. It was just cleaned and serviced with a new belt for the lucky new owner. I would suggest a newer set of (low capacitance) Gold input cables. Comes with a original head shell only. I had the tone arm rewired and installed new updated shielded RCA outputs. So it’s basically rebuilt and guaranteed to work better than new! This is one of Pioneer’s better contributions to the turntable market. Built in the late 60′ and early 70’s it’s the Pioneer PL-41. At the time it was their top of the line turntable. The PL-41’s utilizes a belt drive. It’s a simple table that’s easy to operate. Not to mention A bulletproof rugged design that has already lasted decades! Compatible to AR. Or Thorens. Priced at $795 And up to $2000 each
The PL-41 is built like a tank and, when set up properly, is a proven solid performer.
