Up for sale is this vintage circa 1968 Vox Mando Guitar 12-string octave guitar. This is a very cool instrument and, although not perfect, is a nice example of the model.
This instrument is all original with the exception of the bridge cover. While a bridge cover is included and the screw holes match up, it rests on top of the pickguard (pictured), so we don't believe it to be original.
The original finish shows a few deep checking lines as is common on these old Italian Vox instruments. There are numerous dings and scuffs, the worst of which we have tried to capture in the photos. The neck shows just a touch of flame in the right light and is very attractive. The original pickguard is cracked at one screw hole and a small piece is missing, which is common to see on these old Vox's. The electronics have just been tested and everything works exactly as it should. And, let me tell you, plugged into a Marshall and cranked up, this thing is a TON of fun!
This instrument has just been gone over and set up by our tech who polished the frets and oiled the fretboard, sprayed out the electronics, adjusted the truss rod, and installed a fresh set of strings. The truss rod is functional and the neck is straight. The original frets do show some wear and it's obvious that this one was played. Even with wear and some divoting, they still have quite a bit of life left in them.
A non-original, loose-fitting vintage Japanese hardshell case is included. The case interior is in very rough shape, but it is sturdy and both latches work. The instrument will be well-packed inside to ensure safe shipping.
While this one isn't dead mint, it's a very nice and fun example of a rare Vox model that is priced to reflect some small issues. Don't miss out!
