Up for sale, a 1978 Heerby LS Series Goldtop electric guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Crafted exclusively for the Japanese market at the Kasuga factory, Heerby was a quality, short-lived brand.

This Heerby features a Goltop-finished solid maple cap, solid mahogany body and neck, and a bound rosewood fretboard, delivering both the articulation and cut of maple and the inherent warmth of mahogany. The original pair of Maxon-made PAF-style humbuckers with double cream bobbins have a tone that is detailed and rich, with plenty of definition and power in the bridge position, and an inherently thicker, sweeter sound at the neck. Weighing 10lbs 4oz with plenty of natural sustain and punch, this Heerby has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action and fresh 10-46 strings.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a quintessential medium C-shaped profile with nicely rounded shoulders, measuring .845” deep at the 1st fret and .940” at the 12th. The dark rosewood fingerboard features vintage-spec fret edge binding on the pristine original medium jumbo fretwire. The guitar plays well in all registers up the straight neck with and ideally adjusted truss rod. Conforming to Gibson spec, the scale length is 24 3/4”, and the nut measures 1 11/16“ in width. The “open book” headstock features a pearloid Heerby inlay and set of original chrome Royce-branded Rotomatic-style tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. A different set of tuners was at one time substituted, as evidenced by the singular small mounting holes just north of the original gears.

On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with full-size Japanese pots and a pair of upgraded Tone Factory Vitamin Q paper-in-oil capacitors. The original Maxon pickups have the correct Gibson-style braided wire, with six digit Maxon stamps on the baseplates which date to 1978. The ABR-1 style bridge closely matches Gibson spec with “Japan” stamped underneath and the retainer wire intact. The chrome hardware has plenty of shine, with just the faintest hint of patina on the bridge and stopbar, and the original amber bell knobs are intact. Cosmetic wear is limited to light marks on the metallic Goldtop finish, with a few small finish chips at the back bass-side waist, and some concentrated finish scratches shy of buckle rash central to the back. In contrast, the neck profile sports a pristine smooth gloss finish.

The original hardshell case is included.
