Teisco 1960s Zen On Audition 2 pickup Vintage Guitar
This restored Vintage beauty is another effort by Triage Guitar Shop of West Palm Beach to save a discarded Teisco classic. The body and neck were purchased separately from California and Georgia respectively.
This is the second Audition that Triage has saved, but this one has a few twists from the original versions. The finicky rocker or slide switches have been replaced by a classic Les Paul,/SG 3-way selector switch.
Two period correct "Toaster Slot" humbucker pickups add guts and versatility over typical single coil pickups
There was lots of work done to restore this neglected classic. The list begins below:
Body, which is in good shape had its front painted lime green. The back and sides were touched up and polished
The neck was checked for straightness (This model has steel reinforced neck, but no truss rod. All OK).
The first 3 frets showed denting on the treble side, so I replaced those 3 with cupronickel frets of the same medium profile. All other frets are good. Plenty of play left.
Fingerboard was cleaned and treated.
Frets were polished with 0000 steel wool.
Vintage Teisco tremolo has been installed as it was in original configuration.
NOTE: Locking roller saddle bridge recently installed to enhance tuning stability, string life and the ability to adjust intonation.
New custom pickguard made in accordance with the original design with one exception. Low reliability rocker pickup switches were replaced by 3-way switch.
Missing Pickups were replaced with "Toaster Slot" humbuckers
All new wiring and electronics installed with 1 volume and 2 tone full size pots with new .022uf caps.
New Output jack was installed.
Shielded wiring used throughout.
New Vintage style knobs similar to original style.
New Vintage Kluson style tuners were installed.
New Strap Buttons installed
Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings set to medium low action.
Don't miss this Rescued and Restored modified Classic!!
