Carlo Robelli branded Kasuga SG480R in Very Good original condition.
For those unfamilar Carlo Robelli is a Sam Ash house brand. They had numerous factories make guitars for them over the years. This was made in the Kasuga factory in Nagoya, Japan. I'm calling it a '74 based on the pickup date codes so it could possibly be a '75 but there are no serial numbers to come up with an exact date.
The only non-original parts are a set of Kluson style tuning pegs and a Tusq nut. The original Kasuga logo'd tuners will be included with the guitar, they were no longer holding pitch but are in otherwise excellent condition and may be able to be refurbished. The current tuners are a little noisy but work well otherwise.
The are a few minor cosmetic issues the worst of which is a bit of rash on the bottom back side of the guitar (see pic). The lacquer is lightly cracked at the neck joint, common on all SG's and is only in the lacquer, it is not a crack in the body. Outstanding condition for an import guitar from the mid 70's!
The neck is slim and fast with light wear on the original frets. The frets are low but not "fretless wonder" low, the board is a nice dark rosewood. The guitar plays well and is currently strung with D'Addario XL110's. There are a few minor dead spots up the neck that would benefit from a full setup, possibly a re-crown of the frets. The truss rod is fully finctional.
It appears to be all mahogany, multiple pieces but all mahogany. It has a pancake body with full face veneers front and back. It is done very well and can be seen in the pics if you look carefully.
Pickups are the original Maxon's, I imagine they're "fauxbuckers" but I have not pulled them apart. All electronics are functional and work as they should.
The guitar will ship with a worn but functional padded Dickie's gigbag (pictured) and will be well packed and insured. It will ship UPS Ground, signature required.
