When Hamer USA closed Fender kept the luthiers on staff to build the higher end USA Guilds in New Hartford Connecticut. USA Hamers are considered the "ultimate" when it comes to guitar making. This one of a kind USA Guild prototype was hand built by the skilled hands of Hamer luthiers. A good friend of mine was working for Guild and when Fender sold Guild to Cordoba in 2014 they ordered all the prototypes & unfinished guitars to be destroyed. My friend who was working for guild saved this and one other Les Paul Jr style prototype (which I also for sale on our page) from their demise. They stamped the back of the headstocks "prototype".
This is hands down the finest semi hollow we have had in a long time. Better than any custom shop Gibson for the same money. This guitar has many specific and unique features only found on this guitar and no other Guild model. Dog ear style full size humbucker rings, smaller 339 style body, Ivroid and herringbone binding and many other features.
The closer you look at this guitar the more the exceptional build quality shines through and attention to detail. Perfectly book matched 2 piece Mahogany Neck, Ivroid body and neck binding w/ Herringbone top inlay. Perfectly hand set mother of pearl inlays.
The guitar is incredibly musical, snappy and extremely responsive. Very dynamic with great attack. Choice aged tone woods bring the guitar weighing in at only 6.5lbs! Extremely resonate with tons of sustain. Extreme well balanced and excellent note clarity. Guitar would be very well suited for any genre of music.
Aside from normal play wear the guitar is in excellent shape! It even came in a Hamer USA case leftover at the New Hartford factory! Too cool : )
