Kalamazoo guitars were made in the Gibson factory, and were
sold as a “budget” model line of guitars.
This is probably from the mid to late 1960’s. This KG-10 is a great value for someone who
gets old guitars and isn’t swayed by cosmetic glamor. It’s small neck profile and quality
construction make it the perfect beginner guitar, and a good guitar for someone
with smaller hands, or someone who just wants a smaller neck. It shows wear, is priced accordingly, and
will hold its value. Old quality wood,
with its solid mahogany top, back and sides, & Brazilian rosewood
fretboard, separate this from any of today’s laminated guitars in this price
range.
I’ve added a Tusk saddle, which is a big improvement over
the stock wood saddle this came with. Nice small neck profile and low action
make this play with the ease of an electric guitar. Great beginner guitar
because it’s easy to handle and will hold its value. Width at the nut is 1.536,
which is narrower than the standard 1 11/16ths at 1.69. Thickness of the neck at the 1st
fret is .80, at the 7th fret .9055.
Fretboard & frets are in good shape.
This plays fine as it is. The B string post hole at the
saddle is worn, and has been filled in with some wood. The macro shot of the
bridge shows it has substantial wear. Fretboard & frets are in good shape. This guitar sounds fine and intonates well, but to
get it to 100%, some work at the bridge at the B post hole would be a benefit. Long
ago repaired headstock repair. Repair has been solid as a rock all the years I
have owned this.
Strung with 13’s and it plays great. No case but will be double boxed for shipping. Shipping Cost is estimated at the most expensive possible, I will refund any difference between estimate and actual shipping. Contact me for a more accurate shipping estimate based on your location.
