What you’re looking at here is a real vintage 1983 American Kramer serial #C4960…turned into a legit replica of the most famous Kramer of all time. I geeked out on this big time.
This is the same year that “the guy” we all know and love built his….maybe even down to the month?
The body is a Pacer Special with the original Seymour Duncan JBJ Humbucker, original wiring, input jack, and volume pot, original Floyd Rose, and original Neck Plate and screws. I sold the “chicken beak” headstock neck a few years ago.
Parts that I added to make the replica…
1. Custom made maple neck with correct hockey stick headstock and back shape profile. The luthier who made this did an outstanding job of creating a perfect replica of that famous neck in every way down to the frets. No fret wear whatsoever. I even added a string tree like the original for the B and high E strings on the headstock.
2. Spacetape decal set for cosmetics (which I don’t think you can get anymore?). Numbers on the body, Kramer headstock decal, and two stars…one on the headstock, and one on the upper inner body horn.
3. Correct stripe scheme with Krylon spray paint. I did very little relic-ing (to leave it up to the buyer to their own if preferred). I left the original candy apple red finish and builders markings in the pickup cavity.
4. Schaller Mini tuners.
5. Jazz Bass Volume knob.
6. Fish eye strap hooks with the upper one behind the horn like the original.
7. Floyd Rose tool that snaps on the back of the guitar.
*Note, at some point the original owner had a different kind of Floyd installed on the body and a route under the bridge had to be made. I filled the route with a small block of alder before painting it and reinstalling the original Floyd. The foundation under the bridge is as solid as ever.
