A collaboration between artist Jeff Raglus and myself - this guitar follows my obsession with shapes and designs from the Chicago factories of the 60s and presents them to Jeff as a canvas for his unique artwork. His artwork is sealed under clear lacquer allowing the effect of the brushstrokes to show in relief.
Made from a slab of ash with a slim neck of Queensland maple ( 40mm nut width, 19mm deep at the first fret ), this beastie is the second collaboration between myself and Australian artist, musician and designer Jeff Raglus.
Jeff has an international following for his unique collectable artwork. He is well known in Australia for his designs for Mambo and his tireless career as a musician and fine artist. I love the low-brow-baroque, pinstripe, graphic look of this one.
I've followed Jeff's work for decades and now I get the satisfaction of commissioning these paintings from him to include in my work.
I made up a unique pickguard from translucent ruby acrylic contrasted with Chicago Dakaware phenolic knobs and cream Klusons with purple urethane pickup covers. The tailpiece is hand made from aluminium billet and stainless steel.
