This is a 1998 Francisco Navarro Garcia Flamenco Blanca in remarkably good condition for a 30 year old guitar. It's got a couple small dings and scratches in the top but that's it. It seems to have been barely played. Cedar over cypress, wooden friction pegs, and the typical Navarro reinforced soft case. I believe it is a 52/650 but I'm not certain.
This guitar is LOUD and bright with very nice high-end resonance and punchy mids. It plays easily and is well-intonated across the board. Compared to my Hauser, it has a big neck and it is incredibly light. The friction tuners work fine as far as friction tuners go, but if I were keeping it I'd put in machine pegs. That's just a personal preference, though.
For reference, I own a Navarro Grand Concert Classical Hauser and a student model and I have owned Grand Concert Classical Torres and Rodriguez models. I really like this guy's work! The label is stamped and it has a braided center brace, both of which indicate that this guitar is a Grand Concert Flamenco. I asked a Navarro dealer about it and they said they weren't certain, but they think that he wasn't making Grand Concerts at the time, but that this was his top of the line guitar and it would correspond to a Concert model in more recent times. The only difference between a Concert and a Grand Concert Flamenco model is a french polish top. Looking at this guitar and my other one, I do not believe this guitar is french polished. So I think this guitar is pretty much a Concert model, but with 30 years of aging and drying out.
This is an excellent guitar but I'm more drawn to the low-end lushness of my Hauser, so the Flamenco's gotta go.
Please note that I'll be out of town from the 14th through the 21st, so if you buy it during that time I won't be able to ship it until I get back home.
