This rare Epiphone was made in Japan between 1979 and 1981. This particular guitar appears to be a 1979.

The pickups have been replaced, as well as maybe the pots; the knobs stick up off the body a little higher than they should. I cleaned up some shoddy wiring but left it pretty much as-wired, which is 2 volumes, shared tone and a shared coil split. (*Edit* the wiring was a mess and was really bumming me out, so I went ahead and rewired the guitar, pic included. The cloth enameled pot buss wire is from a Lycoming airplane engine) The neck pickup is maybe a Gibson dirty fingers or similar, don't know about the bridge; maybe a DiMarzio or a bill lawrence. It all works as it should.

The body has cracked around the input jack. This is very common with these guitars, it is still solid but should probably be glued up soon if you plan on playing this guitar heavily.

This guitar has a great 50s C neck, nice large frets, super low action, has had Grover tuners added at some point. Has an ABR-1 style bridge.

The neck was cracked at the headstock at some point and has been repaired. It appears to have happened a long time ago, and the repair is well done. Broken headstocks are common on vintage Gibson and Epiphone guitars and if repaired well can keep on shredding like nothing ever happened (some even say it makes the guitar stronger or sound better - all I know is this one still plays great despite the repaired crack).

Other than the neck repair, input jack body cracking, and a few pictured paint chips, the guitar is in great shape. It doesn't show much play wear or rash for a 40 year old instrument. There are a number of slight surface scratches, but the body & paint are solid & straight, and for the inclined, a good run with a buffing wheel would make this thing shine like new.

Comes with what appears to be an original hardshell case.

These have been reissued, but the originals don't come around too often. Get this great vintage Japanese Epiphone while you can!
