The real thing. The legendary Sola Sound Tonebender known as the MK1.5 from 1966 (possibly 1965) Only a handful of these are known to exist on the planet this being an excellent example of the early version with the 500k pot. The version Arbiter used as a blueprint for their own legendary fuzz face. the original switch was changed to an Arrow at some stage in it’s history. Most likely in the 1970s if we were estimating from the actual switch itself.
Serviced by the great David Main in 2018, the original connectors were accurately updated and vintage accurate rubber feet for the base- the originals had unfortunately disintegrated. The circuit board, components/transistors, backplate, jacks and pots are entirely original. Features Mullard branded “Great Britain” OC75s. One of the transistors was missing it’s sheath off the legs so Mr Main kindly replaced the colour coating on the legs whilst keeping the transistor entirely intact. The maroon shades breaking through the hammerite is a feature also seen on a few of the other known surviving examples.
the sound. Smooth, harmonic, warm and sustaining. I don’t know why but this seems to work differently when the klon centaur is in the chain- perhaps it is to do with the buffer. It really seems to soar at full capacity. A magnificent piece for the collector, aspiring builder, supreme fuzz enthusiast or rock n roll historian. worldwide shipping using courier service as agreed with buyer
