This one of a kind Gibson Byrdland was custom ordered in 1980.
Supposedly this was ordered by or for Al Hurricane who was a well known
singer from New Mexico. In addition to the Greenburst finish this
guitar was ordered with a the Gibson branded "flip out" Schaller
tuners. When we got this guitar it was equipped with a bigsby, but we
re-installed the original tailpiece. The bigsby didn't leave any holes
in the top, but there are a few extra screw holes by the end pin which
are covered by the correct Byrdland tailpiece. The guitar is in
excellent overall condition with only very light play wear. The
greenburst finish in extremely rare - although this is the only Byrdland
we have seen with this finish, we have seen the finish on an Explorer
and a Les Paul Custom. The guitar must have been pre-drilled for Grover
imperials before it was finished Greenburst as the outline of the
filled screw holes from those tuners can be seen under the original
finish on the back of the headstock. The guitar plays and sounds
excellent, and it comes with the original hardshell case.
