1990's Orville Gibson Thunderbird Bass

Super rare 1990's Orville Thunderbird Bass, from Gibson's now-defunct MIJ Orville line. 

If you're looking for true vintage tone and look from a Thunderbird. no Gibsons produced in the last 30 years have it - these Orvilles do!

This example is no exception - I've had it strung up with flatwounds for the entire time I've owned it and the low-end will knock your socks off. It is absolutely massive. 

This example has very low action with the skinny Jazz-esque nut width. There is no discernible fret wear.

I am including a really nice Neoprene strap as well.

There have been some modifications to it, including:

- It is currently re-wired to have a master volume, which I needed for playing it live. This wiring makes it impossible to isolate the bridge pickup, which I never used on its own anyway. So, the middle pickup is always on, and you can either dial in/out the bridge pickup or cut the middle pickup, which essentially acts as a master volume.
- A Hipshot Supertone Bridge is on the bass, which is very light and much easier to change strings with than Gibson's 3-point bridge (original is included)
- Vintage-style tug bar has been installed.

Also of note:
- The strap button location was moved once (prior to me owning it) and is currently on the side of the body, not the back.
- I do not have the Orville truss rod cover, only the Gibson one. This is how I bought the bass. It is not a perfect fit (only two of the screw holes line up), but it works - see photo.
- Gibson Thunderbird hardshell case is included, and it basically mint.
- Despite what you see in the photo, this bass will come equipped with its original tuners.
