The Next Generation of High-performance Les Pauls
Adorned with an eye-catching AAA+-grade maple top and loaded with modern features, the Gibson Les Paul Standard HP is built for high performance. Benefit from a vast array of tonal options, thanks to Burstbucker pickups and innovative wiring. Rapid-fire playing and tapping seem effortless, by virtue of the Les Paul Standard HP's asymmetrical SlimTaper neck profile, wider Soloist neck width, and compound-radius fretboard. On top of that, this guitar's fast-access heel provides easy access to its upper frets. G Force electronics, titanium saddles, and an adjustable zero-fret nut ensure precise action and intonation. The Les Paul Standard HP ushers in the next generation of looks, tone, and playability.
Cryogenically treated frets last practically forever
The frets on your Gibson Les Paul Standard HP have been cryogenically treated, meaning that they were exposed to liquid nitrogen at around -300ºF. What's the point of that? Well, it makes them stronger. In fact, cryogenically treated frets were found to last up to four times longer than standard frets during Gibson's exhaustive testing process (roughly 277,000 string bends). Best of all, this treatment makes the frets stronger without making them harder, so they feel the same as standard frets. Thanks to its cryogenically treated frets, your Gibson Les Paul Standard HP will likely never need a fret job!
Compound-radius fretboard
The Les Paul Standard HP features a 10"–16" compound-radius fretboard for ultimate playability. The fingerboard is rounder near the nut for easy chord-grabbing and rhythm playing. As your playing heats up and moves up the fretboard, the radius flattens out for easier runs and big string bends. With a neck that plays this slick, you'll be up at the highest frets before you know it. Guitarists here at Sweetwater love the feel of the Les Paul Standard HP's compound-radius fretboard.
Slim neck profile with wider Soloist neck width
The Gibson Les Paul Standard HP sports a fast, wide neck with a SlimTaper profile, perfect for modern players who push the speed limit. The wider Soloist neck width gives you more room for big bends and tapping than the traditional LP neck width. And the asymmetrical SlimTaper profile gives you the speed of a thin neck with the chording stability of a rounder neck. It's a great balance for players who love Les Paul tone but prefer a faster, thinner neck.
Dip switches give you access to over 100 tonal options
The Gibson HPs are some of the most sonically versatile electric guitars Gibson has ever offered. The tone and volume controls on the Les Paul Standard HP are a push-pull design, and five internal dip switches determine how these controls work. By setting these dip switches to your preference, you can access coil splits, coil taps, and a highpass filter for each pickup; determine if you want the pickups to be in or out of phase; and even engage a transient suppression circuit for avoiding unwanted output peaks when recording direct.
