This is a factory stock Martin LX1E Little Martin with custom artwork. It has a solid sitka spruce top and mahogany HPL back and sides. The artwork was added with a wood burner using great care and detail.
I am not sure the exact age but when I got it it had a dirty looking top with some of the factory finish worn pretty thin. The top had two repaired cracks. One was the typical split down the seam in the middle of the lower bout where the two pieces of sitka come together. The other was on the left side of the lower bout along the grain line of the wood. Both had been expertly repaired with one cleat on each and nicely applied glue. The artwork was designed to cover both spots leaving no external evidence of either.
All of the HPL, bridge, headstock, fretboard and neck looked new. Despite the roughness of the sitka it sounded exceptional.
I sanded what was left of the factory finish, added the artwork, applied a new thick lacquer coat, and buffed it to a high gloss finish. The end result as you will see in the photos is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, acoustic-electric Little Martin.
