This is a real vintage beauty and a player too.
This Framus Sorella 5/59 – 1961 German Vintage Archtop Jazz, is 60 year old this year consequently it has a few scratches and bumps BUT it plays fine and looks amazing. (Syd Barrett used to play on a black Framus Sorella)
The Sorella was one of their most sold archtop models. It was a mid-high quality cutaway guitar, wich was very well rounded over all and therefore attracted many guitarists seeking the Framus sound. Usually, you find this guitar in a sunburst finish with pointy f-holes, but early models had a rounder f-hole and where also very rarely finished in natura or black (like this one).
The guitar is in a good condition over all, as you can see in the pictures. It needs some setup before playing, since it is a vintage instrument( (neck got repaired in the past, the action is a little high with about 0.4-0.5cm and the bridge is not original), but it is playable and looks really clean over all, as you can see in the pictures, besides the obvious lacquer cracks. The tuners turn smoothly and hold the string tension well. The guitar sounds really good and well rounded for the blues and jazz music of the 50s and 60s. The fretboard was oiled and the frets where polished. The strings are new too.
Last summer, a French professional "luthier" has worked on it to put the string action lower than it was.
