About This Listing

Here is an absolutely beautiful fully restored 1960's Gates Gatesway Tube Console. ( This is the 3rd Fully restored Gates Gatesway Tube Console I have offered here on Reverb. They haven't lasted long. (The 1st went to Electric Lady Studio's NYC, the 2nd to Jeff Tweedy of Wilco) I have also shipped one privately to a studio in the UK.
This board has been meticulously restored over the last 2 years and now it's ready for its new home. No expenses were spared and no details over looked! These boards came stock with 4 preamps but 2 more can be added. We added 2 more line inputs with UTC transformers. All tubes & electrolytic capacitors were replaced. The board was completely disassembled, cleaned, waxed, oiled, re-hydrated and re-painted in Gates original umber gray.  To make things easier for the modern recording studio we built custom XLR input & output boxes that sit near the board. Everything is labeled to correlate with the original Gatesway manual, the board is also labeled inside.

The Gatesway is one of the most comprehensive audio systems manufactured in the 1960's. Eight step type mixing channels accommodate 4-6 preamps (15 microphones by use of utility keys), four turntables, four tapes, network, and multiple remote lines. The Gatesway includes the exclusive 10 watt ultra linear amplifier, variable high-pass filter, in-built cue-intercom, and five unwired utility keys for individual needs. Twenty-seven keys accommodate 52 switching functions for almost any conceivable setup. Relays are powered from a fully regulated custom built power supply.
