About This Listing

Wow!! Such a cool guitar that represents such a cool transitional moment in guitar history!

I absolutely love Goya and Levin guitars that came out of Sweden. I think there's such a sweetness to them in the sound, the feel, the look, everything right down to the smell. It's a multi-sensory experience. Most of the time you see the Goya G-10 which is like the Volvo 240 of guitars. They made a gazillion of them, everyone's usually had more than one drift through their life, and much like the 240 some are randomly the best ride or die longtime life partners that their owner's swear by. The Goya and Levin guitars were a lot of people's step up guitars or the first guitar that they got really good on and crossed into a new territory. There's a lot of sentimentality for the Swedish guitars, they're super beautiful and pleasant instruments and a lot of people throughout history have had a really positive experience with them.

This guitar has a few very different bloodlines running through it and it has a bunch of really interesting characteristics both from Germany where it was made and Sweden where it was designed! The top is so unmistakably Swedish, it looks exactly like the beautiful golden yellow tops of Goya and Levin guitars. The saddle is unmistakably Swedish as well, with that classic Levin orange-ish color (my personal fan fiction theory is that they're made out of reindeer bones but maybe that's just what I want to believe lol). The neck to me feels totally Swedish, both in the shape and the texture of the clear coat, as well as that classic goya maple stripe running dead center down the middle of the back of the neck. Then there's other characteristics that are unmistakably German in appearance, it's almost a perfect 50/50 amalgamation of the two worlds. The back and sides definitely look more like something that would come out of the Framus factory, and the bridge that the saddle is in totally looks German as well. The tuners feel like they would be on a Framus, as well as the nut and the neck heel shape and cap.

Most importantly the guitar plays and sounds fantastic, it sounds and plays like a really nice classic Goya way more than a German guitar from the same era (I like the Swedish guitars from this time a lot more). Action is low, string tension is nice and bouncy, the tone has that nice Goya sweetness, everything feels perfectly in place. The condition is overall really great especially for the age, there's a few scuffs here and there, but nothing too crazy. Great instrument with some really cool history!
