This is a short scale Tele style bass that I put together using various parts.
The neck is a Retrovibe 30.6" scale, maple vintage tint with gloss finish. Perfect for smaller hands, the nut width is 38mm and the heel is only 55mm. Very comfortable to play - it's very dinky and reminds me a lot of my Vox Teardrop bass.
The natural thinline style body is basswood, very lightweight but this does mean that the bass is neck heavy.
I've fitted a Wilkinson bridge pickup and an unbranded neck humbucker with brushed appearance - although they are designed for guitar they do work perfectly with the bass strings. All of the cavities have been shielded, I also had to make a new acrylic bridge pickup surround specifically for this model as an ashtray would have caused some problems with the bass strings passing over.
The bridge unit is a Hosco Vintage Style which allows the strings to be seated closer to each other so they don't fall off the edge of the fretboard.
The controls are standard 3 way toggle, volume and tone.
The scratchplate and neck humbucker still have their protective covering.
The bass is nice and easy to play but there is some fret buzz present. On close inspection you may find one or two very minor imperfections, such as the side shim that had to be fitted due to the neck pocket being a little on the large side.
The bass is supplied with a brand new Ashton padded gigbag, along with a basic lead, strap and pick.
