Fresh out of the custom shop is this rare and one of a kind instrument. Legendary NYC luthier Rick Kelly designed this guitar merging telecasters and his favorite lip-stick guitars of the 60s from Silvertone and Danelectro. He had versions produced in the 90s and were sold in very limited release from his shop in Manhattan. This is new old stock. The necks, electronics and hardware were, frankly, junk. I have modified and upgraded in all of the necessary ways to make this a truly playable, awesome and top-notch instrument.
The body is true to the vintage construction style with hollow poplar core, masonite top and that fancy vinyl edgebanding tape. The great lipstick pickups sit in a true-to-form painted hardboard pickguard and a too-funky steel tele bridgeplate.
Custom shop upgrades include:
- Marc Rutters brass slotted compensated saddles (the best in the business)
- Marc Rutters slanted telecaster control plate
- Upgraded pots, 5-way switch and jack (and wiring)
- Vintage style plastic control knobs
- Premium Warmoth maple neck (painted black gloss) with large Fatback profile, 6150 frets and TusqXL nut.
- Gotoh kluson-style vintage tuners with white buttons
- Duncan dual strap lock system and deluxe cotton Levy's strap included
- Custom "Silverlectro" decal
Its set-up with great low action, sounds incredible and NO ONE will have anything like it. It's tuxedo style is classy and classic and the same time.
Includes a high quality Tweed deluxe gig bag free.
If you are interested, please make me an offer. I'd love for this unique beast to find a great home.
*Coho custom shop decal is removable if you desire.
Please ask any questions using the Reverb system. I've done my best to describe the guitar and show it through photos as best I can, but let me know if you have any specific questions or need more info. I am not affiliated with Rick Kelly in any way other than I've bought some guitars from him over the years and think he's a genius. There is no warranty on this item, but it is as described and works perfectly, as you should expect. Cheers!
