For sale, a pair of rare Celestion G12M 75Hz lead cone Creambacks. Celestion produced these for only a brief period in the early 70's between the Pulsonic and Mueller cone eras, making them a bit lesser known but definitely no lesser in tone. You can hear examples of these speakers in Johan's video at 4:48 and 5:59. Date stamps EG17 and EG20 indicate these speakers were born on May 17 and May 20, 1974; they are from the same original Marshall cab despite one having a replaced magnet cover.
These speakers are almost as good as it gets in terms of cosmetic and functioning condition, and they pass all of my tests including:
- No tears, holes, or any other damage to the cones; completely original and no repairs
- Doping is in great shape
- Dust caps are fully attached
- Spider support glue in great shape, no loose areas or repairs
- Magnet covers are fully attached, stickers still look good
- No coil rubbing
- Read 14.2 & 14.8 ohms on Fluke multimeter (this is the proper reading for 16 ohm speakers)
Shipping Statement: If you're like me and have been buying/selling speakers online for awhile, you know how disappointing it is to have your new purchase show up trashed - and trust me, I've seen 'em come all ways. These will ship double boxed, first in individual 12x12 boxes, then inside a larger box with multiple inches of peanuts packed tightly all the way around and labeled appropriately. What you see here is exactly what you will receive. ;-)
Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for looking!
