LAFAYETTE by Couesnon Paris Vintage Cornet Sold As Is #27256 no returns. Horn only no case or mouthpiece.
Though somewhat playable, this is in RUFF shape. So I'll describe it, but consider it for parts or restoration, or a 'somewhat' playing project in need of much TLC.
I can actually play a C scale on this. But there are lots of ugly solders on it, the tuning slides don't work well, but pistons do move enough for me to make a slow C scale.
Speaking of C scale, I think the key on this is Bb. It sounds flat to the test, but note that the mouthpiece not being in as far as it should, would assist with that flatness.
The receptacle where the mouthpiece fits in is smaller than a standard cornet. So although I used a standard cornet mouthpiece to play test, it did not fit in as far as it would in a more modern standard cornet. I don't know the age of the horn. I guessed 40s to 50s, but it could be older than that.
