Thought this was sold.....The Gibson Stage Deluxe is a very limited run model (50 or so?) based upon the vintage Roy Smeck Stage Deluxe of the 1930's. Gibson starts with their traditional J-45 round shouldered body, in this case with an Adirondack Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides, 30's style wide X-bracing and nitro lacquer finish. Using hide glue, they then attach a 24 3/4" scale neck with classic V-shape, 12" radius Rosewood fingerboard, 1.805" bone nut and MOP dot inlays to the body at the 12th fret. Waverly tuners, firestripe pickguard and Trance Audio Amulet M electronics round out this incredible package. Those of you who follow such things will likely have noticed that except for a few cosmetic differences and the use of Mahogany instead of Walnut for the back and sides, the aforementioned specifications sound strikingly similar to the $4K Gibson Jackson Browne A, a guitar which is also modeled after a 30's era Roy Smeck guitar. I suspect that the Stage Deluxe was introduced to help Gibson amortize some of the tooling and development costs of the Jackson Browne models, which were also produced in very limited numbers. In any event, this 12-fret design is a tone monster and has been referred to as "the grand piano of acoustic guitars." This is a fingerstyle instrument by design, but certainly isn't lacking depth and volume when flat-picked. This fabulous 2014 model is in near mint condition with virtually no flaws of any significance and the frets show no wear. Comes with it's original hardshell case and certificate. Check out the included video of the Jackson Browne model in action to get a sense of the tone of this very similar beauty, the Stage Deluxe. Just marvelous!
