SML/King Marigaux Tenor sax - Super Late Production. Possibly the last one manufactured.
This KING Marigaux Tenor saxophone is serial number 26900 - the highest I have seen. SML stopped production of all saxophones in 1982 and there are very few records available about their output, other than the user-sites online.
This instrument was purchased by the previous owner, at a music store in Paris, so it was never "imported" into North America - it was hand carried. The saxophone was played by a student in high school and college. No other information is available.
The overall condition is excellent. This saxophone is 49 years old and is in amazing shape. There is one small dent in the neck and a couple of minor surface abrasions from normal usage. Other than those two imperfections - it is in near-perfect shape. The sax plays very well, top-to-bottom, on older pads, which have plenty of life in them. This late model includes a high-F# key - a real rarity on SML saxophones. Like all SML instruments, the quality is pro-level and this saxophone could serve a professional musician for another half century with no issues.
The original KING hard-sided carry case is also in excellent condition. It is solid and appears to have been used very little and can serve to protect the sax for everyday usage with no concerns. The previous owner must have used a gig bag to transport the instrument. There is a generic mouthpiece in the case. No strap or other accessories are included.
Ships one day after payment confirmation via FedEx Home Delivery, fully insured. Will only ship to continental 48 United States of America (sorry international buyers - I have had too many saxes damaged in shipping and international damage claims can be a nightmare) or it can be picked up locally.
