This is a really unique guitar that I wish I knew the history on, but unfortunately I do not. This 1971 Gibson Les Paul Standard has been heavily modified in a twisted or "S" manner which the pictures should show you what you need to know as far as cosmetics go. I purchased it about a year ago and can tell you that any place you go with it will draw a lo of attention, not to mention offers to buy or trade. The guitar dates to 1971 and was an original Standard with factory full size humbucker routes. The sunburst finish on the top is original along with the headstock finish but the back, sides and back of the neck have been oversprayed and refinished. The guitar plays great. The neck is straight and the action is low and comfortable. Most of the parts are changed. The pickups are an old Duncan '59 in the neck and a Dimarzio '59 PAF in the bridge and are really good sounding combination. The truss rod cover, tuners, bridge, tailpiece and knobs are all changed as well. There is small crack along the treble side wing of the headstock, see pics. There are also two holes in the top under the tailpiece, not sure what they are from. The modifications with power tools speak for themselves. The modifications took some skill and craftsmanship and must have taken a long time. Clearly the person who did the modifications had better craftsmanship skills than judgement. Comes with non original hard case. Shipping is to lower 48 states only
