Up for grabs is a 2014 Oscar Schmidt F-Style Mandolin in mint condition. Here's all the information on this particular model and why I am selling it:
Upfront Specs:
- 14" Scale Length - 24 Frets - Laminated Spruce Soundboard - Laminated Maple Back/Sides - Mahogany Neck - Rosewood Fretboard - Rosewood Bridge - Gold Hardware - Pearloid Tuning Buttons - Morgan Monroe Left Handed Hardshell Case, Model# MAC-L - Black Braided Mandolin Strap
Condition:
This mandolin was bought in 2014 brand-new and has rarely been pulled out of the case. The only thing I can notice is that there is a bit of manufacturing/construction smudge around the first fret/nut. Looks like a small bit of C.A. glue from the installation of the nut. You have to pretty much be within a foot away to see it and it is likely that with time and maybe a good fretboard cleaning, it'll go away. I have a picture of that area in the gallery. Other than that this thing is in mint condition.
*Ships from a smoke-free, pet-free and covid free household.
The reason why I am selling it:
This mandolin belonged to my father. He passed away last year at 79 years old after a long fight with a slew of medical problems. He bought this mandolin as his birthday present in 2014. Due to his arthritis getting progressively worse over the last few years, he rarely took it out of the case. Matter of fact, he rarely played this thing in the first place. He always wanted an F-Style mandolin after playing an A-Style since the 70's but didn't want to buy anything that would hurt the bank account. He just liked to look at it more than play it, he was a character hehe.
This may seem like such a sentimental thing for me to sell off and in a way, it is. But I have a couple of his other instruments that I will never part ways with. Also, I am a right-handed musician and flipping the strings over on this kind of mandolin would be silly. I am simply wanting this instrument to go into the hands of a musician or aspiring musician who will cherish it and appreciate it more than I physically can. I know dad would completely understand.
The proceeds of this sale is going to help me with my own percussion instrument company, which I've been working on since 2016. I am within a few months from launching this dream!
