About This Listing

Fender Jaguar refinished in Surf Green made in 1964. Although this is considered a player’s grade guitar because of some aftermarket parts, upgrades, re-fret and refinish this guitar is very cool and unique with a killer color and vibe!

This guitar features an off-set alder body with a maple neck and Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. The original 24” Scale length neck dates to December of 1964 and has had a very good re-fret as well as a custom inlay added on the first fret of flaming lips which pair nicely with the original mother of pearl dot inlays. The original Nickel single-line Kluson deluxe tuning machines are in fantastic condition and work very well with the upgraded brass nut and original bridge. The original pots date to 1964 as well as the original pre-CBS switches, original cloth wiring, and original input jack. The neck pickup is the original Jaguar single-coil while the bridge in an aftermarket high-output pickup of unknown origins with a 14k output reading. The knobs and original hardware are in good working order as well as the 3-ply aftermarket pick-guard. The body has previously been routed for Humbuckers prior to the refinish but is not visible with the current pick-guard in place. This guitar currently has a Fender 70’s hardshell case as well as a replacement tremolo bar.

This is a killer guitar for a player as the pickups give you a nice blend or classic tone with the original neck pickup, pots and switch as well as an unsuspecting screaming high-output bridge pickup for leads. The re-fret feels great on the Brazilian rosewood fretboard and the body has only minor dings, dents, and scratches giving it a nice light relic look. This guitar has been freshly re-strung and setup in standard tuning and plays fantastic!

Product Overview
The Fender Jaguar was introduced as a high-end model guitar four years after the Jazzmaster. Though similar to the Jazzmaster in its offset body and lead/rhythem circuits controls, the Jaguar differed in two key ways. For one, the Jaguar used a shorter 24-inch scale length compared to the 25 1/2-inch of most Fender guitars. Additionally, the Jaguar used two thinner single-coil pickups compared to the feedback-prone soapbox pickups of the Jazzmaster. The Jaguar was not as popular as the Telecaster or Strat in its initial run, but has found some popularity with punk, grunge and indie rockers since.

Body Style: Offset solidbody

Wood Composition: Alder body, Maple neck with veneer Rosewood fingerboard

Design Elements: Bolt-on neck, dot inlays, 2 single-coil pickups with notched side-plates, individual pickup selectors, 24-inch scale length, treble and bass roll knobs, floating tremolo system, lead/rhythm circuit switch

Finish Specifications: The guitars shown here have been refinished, either by the Fender factory or by a third party, and generally can be had for a much lower price than a guitar with its original finish.

Notable Players:  Kurt Cobain, Johnny Marr, Carl Wilson
