Original vintage 1974 rickenbacker 4001 bass, stone cold beauty, in absolutely dead on, perfect playing condition. The neck is smooth and straight, and lightning fast. Action is low, easy and very responsive, and she just feels right. This guitar is 100% solid. No breaks, no cracks, no monkey business. Electronics are excellent, and the pickups sound duh, amazing. These old 1973- 1974 rickys are getting quite rare, especially in mapleglo finish. This one has some cool 73 feautures; the wavy grover tuners, narrow pickguard, etc.
Cosmetically, the bass is in very vintage shape, with only the natural moderate play and finish wear one expects of a classic instrument of this age and pedigree, as well as the Geddy Lee style badass bridge, all included at no extra charge. She will be a great piece for the professional player studio, for whom the real thing really matters, and nothing less will do. Can't fake the old tone. The original hard case pictured in included. -Enjoy!
Initially developed as a deluxe, two-pickup upgrade to Rickenbacker’s 4000 bass, the Rickenbacker 4001 bass guitar has become a notable model for its long list of famous players. First released in 1961 with production lasting through the very early ‘80s, the 4001 has earned fans in bass players like Lemmy Kilmister, Kim Gordon, Rick James, Geddy Lee, and many, many more. The extra pickup was added to the 4001 to widen tonal possibilities and up the bass frequency response.
