Another legendary piece from Nelson Pass and the labs of Threshold Corp. The Threshold FET Ten HL (High Level) preamplifier. I won’t go into all the details of what this is/does, there is plenty of reviews and information available online.
This unit has seen heavy use, and has the wear to show it, but still is in moderately good condition physically. It was used by one of the world’s best classical music labels in their mastering/mixing facility for monitoring, and then taken on the road for remote location orchestra recording.
Physically the pictures tell the story-scratches, bumps-the brushed aluminum is in pretty good condition, but the lids and knobs show wear. RCA jacks on the back have slight pitting/wear as well. Some not as much as others. There is one screw missing from the side of the main unit-not in a conspicuous location.
Functionally the unit performs well, however-there is a slight 60cycle hum that is persistent. I’m not a big tech person-but I would guess the power supply or a loose grounding situation. It could also be a cap that has gone bad.
Price reflects condition and age. Basically this unit is going on 35 years of age and could use a nice upgrade/restoration-as it is all original. Reasonable offers will be considered.
These units are built with Threshold’s level of quality apparent in every way. It would be quite easy to replace/upgrade whatever you want on the board-it’s laid out very nicely.
Will be packaged and shipped neatly Happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability.
