Ever heard of Jimmy Nolen? He played for this relatively unknown guy named James Brown. Well he used a Fresher Straighter for a brief period in the 1970's.
Freshers, like just about all of the Japanese brands, went through varying phases of quality throughout their respective lifetimes. This happens to be one of the good ones. It plays amazing. Sounds really, REALLY great. And looks and feels like an early 70's maple cap Fender sunburst Strat, with a very flamed neck. Great, low action. Perfect playing neck. Pickups sound surprisingly musical and accurate. Even has a 3-way switch like all pre-1977 Fenders did. Tuners were switched out to Sperzel's at some point, and someone added a aftermarket, period correct looking Fender waterslide decal. ***Just to clarify (as it has been confusing to some) this guitar is NOT a Fender Stratocaster.***
It has it's share of wear and tear -- as documented in the pics -- but nothing out of the ordinary for a 45+ year old guitar. And apparently Sean Ono Lennon signed this in what appears to be 2005, for whatever that's worth.
I've always been a fan of these MIJ copies. And this one may be one of the best ones I've owned and played -- right up there with the 1957 and 1962 "reissue" Stratocasters hailing from Fender Japan in the 1980's (although this Fresher plays better than the '57 one!). No case with this, but it will be packed and shipped securely!
I actually don't want to sell this, but times are tough and this was one of the last guitars I bought -- so last in, first out unfortunately.
