RKS was a guitar company that only existed for a few years (~2001-2007).
However, in that short time, they became known for making some of the most
beautiful and innovative guitars in the world that historically continue to
increase in value every year. They are no longer being made and there remains
just a few of them in existence. For this particular model, there may be a
dozen, at the most.
This particular guitar was a gift from the owner of the RKS
company to the man from whom I purchased it. He kept it in his collection and played it very little. The serial number of “V33 1877” is VERY low making
it even more collectible. It is made in California.
This unique Hollowbody’s guitar body is made of chrome and
the struts are made out of aircraft aluminum. The pickups were designed and
produced by Lace to maximize the sound capabilities of this guitar. It’s
visually stunning but also sounds great!
Included is the original custom fitted hard shell case as
well as the case candy and letter from RKS included in the attached pic.
Other than a small mark (barely visible if you are not aware
of it) on the top horn, this guitar is in amazing condition as it has been
played very little.
According to RKS guitars:
"Reinventing an icon like the electric
guitar is a truly big challenge, but one that every ambitious designer at RKS
dreamt about. As a huge music and guitar fan, RKS' CEO Ravi Sawhney challenged
his team to create a high performance electric guitar made out of sustainable
materials that would attract first time learners, as well as the best guitar
players in the world. The challenge included developing the right shape,
ergonomics, tone, balance and aesthetics for the guitar as well as a modular
architecture that allowed easy customization. In order to position the product
with a distinct differentiation on the market the design had to provide
significant improvements to the guitar players' experience over that provided
by traditional electric guitars. Such as expanded tonal range, faster volume,
selector controls and weight reduction."
RKS Guitars utilize a “neck through body” construction,
aluminum or wood ribs and molded body shells. While there have been both hollow
and solid body designs in the past, RKS models are the first-ever, open-ended
hollow body electric guitars and basses. The open body structure allows body
shells and ribs to be changed to suit anyone’s preference for color, materials,
finish, shape, and even sound. “It started as an in-house inspiration project
about five years ago,” says Ravi Sawhney, CEO and President of RKS Guitars. “We
spent the first year in conceptualization and visualization and then another
three in modeling, prototyping, testing, and refining.”
I will consider trades for other high-end guitars.
