Very Rare 1991 Fender Heartfield Talon V Made In Japan at FujiGen Gakki Factory These guitars were Fender's answer to Ibanez in the early 90s and were
manufactured on the same assembly line as the classic Ibanez RG 550s
and Steve Vai Jems at the acclaimed FujiGen Gakki factory in Japan. The brand was endorsed by Vinnie Moore on his
"Meltdown" video/tour, Dweezil Zappa and by Russ Parrish (Satchel from Steel Panther)
back when he was still in Fight with Rob Halford.
Buckethead although never an official endorser was also one of the first famous players & claimed that his Heartfield Talon was his favorite & primary guitar at the time.
These axes were made with leftover Fender HM Strat parts after their run ended with Greg Howe endorsing. These feature the same TBX Tone Control as The HM.
There were 6 Talon models (I, II, III, III-R ,IV, and V) with V being the top flagship model. Comes stock with Gotoh tuners, Dimarzio Super 3 & H3 Humbuckers and Floyd Rose "Pro" bridge (the same trem that debuted on the Kramer Pro Axe series which was Kramer's very last production guitar.)
Lock nuts, strap pins, electronics plate on back, and whammy bar have been switched from black to gold and original knobs have been replaced. The middle single pickup has been replaced with a white pickup. (I have a brushed gold vinyl bobbin topper over it that can be easily removed if you prefer white over gold) I do not know what brand or model the middle pup is but sounds as good to me as the stock pup that is in my other Talon.
There are a few scratches and blemishes that have all been photographed. The 2 larger ones on front of guitar (see pics) and one on the underside (see pics) were painted over using an auto paint pen. Color matches well but all 3 are still noticeable. Headstock logo is fairly worn and very tip of headstock had a tiny little paint chip that I colored in making it virtually unnoticeable unless right up on it. A few nicks in the back of the neck (see pics) and a couple of typical light stray scratches on the body.
Most Talons people sell online today are in road worn shape and I've noticed most usually have gouges all the way to the wood, especially around the edges. This one does not and the body is in pretty great shape aesthetically for it's age of 30 years. The great thing is that there are NO usual cosmetic neck pocket cracks on this one at all!
The V models are the only ones with the unique Talon inlays and inverted headstock featured together. This one is set up with Ernie Ball Super Slinky .009s. The tuners, Humbuckers, Trem system are all original. Humbuckers are Dimarzio Super 3 Bridge & Dimarzio H3 neck, Tuners are Gotoh, and Bridge is Floyd Rose Pro!
-Any questions let me know.
The IV and V models are RARE these days. They certainly don't come along very often, as I collect these guitars and have only seen less than 10 for sale in the last 10 years of my relentless hunting for them! Most of those few being in terrible cosmetic shape or having permanent altercations done to them.
Don't let this chance to own this cool and eclectic piece of Fender history slip away as once it's gone it will likely be a very long time before and if there will be another.
Price is firm. This is a great price for this extremely rare axe.
No case comes with this guitar, but no worries as it will be professionally & safely packed with insurance provided.
