Matter by Folktek is a drum wave synthesizer for the Eurorack format. the precursor to the pin-based Matter ii module, this original model features a Dupont-style patch bay on the front of the unit for making a variety of connections between the device's internal circuitry.
to get started exploring drum wave synthesis, simply patch a signal to one of its eight CV/gate inputs, then connect one of its two header ports (pre- or post-diode) to any of the connectors on the central patch bay. as the incoming voltages fluctuate, be prepared for blips and clicks and drones and screams and squeals of all kinds to emerge. to build additional sounds, direct connections between points on the patch bay can also be made without any external CV or gate provided. the built-in modulation source can be used to add a little life directly to any of the patch points or even between patch points and the external CV output can share that same modulation source with the rest of your system. the Mod CV and Mod Trig inputs let you interact directly with the internal modulator to generate livelier shapes.
a set of expansion/preset cards is included. these cards set Matter in a variety of specific modes or even open up its built-in waveforms for use with Folktek's Conduit delay/filter module (also not included). in addition, Matter plays nicely with Resist (also not included but easy to DIY), a simple set of four potentiometers with Dupont headers for integration into the Matter system. in addition, i hear Matter's patch bay works really well with miscellaneous electrical bits and bobs like diodes, capacitors, resistors, photoresistors, potentiometers and more...
