This is by far the coolest thing I've ever owned. It's a prototype of the classic Presto 41A limiter compressor, and it sounds absolutely divine. It's incredible musical, natural compression but when you push it it adds a completely euphoric character. Those big UTC transformers are not just for show, this thing is heavy and it earns every pound. The power supply is incredibly well built, and could run another compressor, if you manage to find one, there are only a few of these limiters in existence.
The only changes that have been made are the addition of a Daven pot on the output, which makes the gain much more manageable, and XLR connectors in the back to replace the very unusual SDI connectors that original to the unit.
This is an unbelievably gorgeous piece of gear, and I'm so thrilled that someone else will get to make beautiful music through it.
