About This Listing

***Important Shipping Note at Bottom - Previous buyer backed out, send me your best offer, I'm ready to move this guitar***

Larrivee has grown from a small shop operation to the leader in boutique guitars, D-50 is a pinnacle of what a mahogany dreadnought can be.

Beautiful marquetry and attention to detail are the first things noticeable on this guitar. But, as soon as you play it you hear the sound that’s made millions of records. The classic combination of Sitka Spruce and Mahogany lends to a warm, focused tone ideally suited for strumming. There’s even a bit of figuring in the soundboard. It’s a big Dreadnought volley of sound complete with artistic appointments.

My favorite aspect is the abalone rosette. It’s a deep iridescent blue, green, and purple like the water of the shells it came from. It adds a splash of color to what is otherwise an earth toned canvas. Abalone is again used for the dots of the bridge pins. Mother of pearl is used for the inlays on the neck, perfectly contrasting the jet black ebony fingerboard and bridge. I’m a fan of open-back tuners and these are engraved. From top to bottom quality is visible in every aspect. This Larrivee has aged wonderfully, it was made on January 27th, 2003.

Care has always been taken when using this guitar. It's always been kept in its case when not in use and humidified. This guitar has never needed repair and is not likely to any time soon. Neck is very stable, nowhere near a reset.

Condition is excellent. There is a finish blemish in the lower right bout which has been photographed. In between the middle tuners there’s a ding on the back of the headstock, a bit of pick wear near the rosette, and a water spot from a humidifier on the label, all have been photographed. Frets are beginning to show wear on the plain strings, far from a level. There are some tiny dents present but nothing that could be photographed.
