Up for sale, a 1996 Epiphone Casino VT-VS model in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Vibrato-equipped from the factory, this Casino has been upgraded with a genuine USA-made Bigsby B7 and was crafted at the Peerless factory in Korea. Stacking up well against the Elitist line, this VT-VS model is expertly crafted and extremely well-kept over the last quarter century.
Acoustically, the fully hollow all-maple body has an articulate airy tone, capturing both the clear note attack of maple as a tonewood and the warmth of the hollow construction. The P-90s pickups are wound to vintage spec with plenty of midrange bark, and have a glassy, percussive quality. Whether you want dynamic cleans or thick overdrive, these pickups can produce either with ease and with a refinement far beyond most other modern Casino reissues. The guitar is featherweight at only 6lbs 10oz. We've had this Casino professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and dialed in for optimal action and intonation with 10-46 roundwound strings.
The neck has a a particularly chunky and round C-shaped profile carve for a Casino, offering ideal substance and generous shoulder, measuring .880" deep at the 1st fret and .999" at the 12th. The smooth gloss finish on the profile feels great on the palm, and the bound rosewood fretboard is a particularly dark, tight-grained cut of this wood, featuring pearl trapezoid inlay. The original medium jumbo frets retain their full factory height, showing moderate wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5 and lighter wear until fret 7. The truss rod is responsive and ideally adjusted, and the neck is straight, offering low action in every register and effortless playability. The bone nut measures 1 9/16" in width. The headstock retains the original Kluson-style tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch exceptionally well.
The electronics are untouched, with nickel pickup covers on the P-90s and gold reflector cap knobs on the Volume and Tone controls. The nickel ABR-1 bridge works in concert with the USA-made Bigsby B7 vibrato. The Bigsby shows light patina on the string anchor and tension bar, offering a very smooth, even response. The orange oval label is visible through the F hole, dating the instrument's production to January of 1996. The Sunburst finish is rich and glossy, highlighting light bubble maple figuring across the back, with additional ripples of flame on the bass side of the top. Cosmetic wear is limited to very light buckle rash central to the back, and just a few additional tiny nicks and faint finish scratches in the gloss on the body as a whole. The neck profile is flawless.
This Epiphone Casino is professionally setup, and a rare, discontinued iteration made at the Peerless factory to exacting standards with an upgraded Bigsby vibrato.
The original hardshell case is included.
