About This Listing

I am a lucky owner of a 1982 Ibanez AR 300(NOT FOR SALE). I got this 1983 Ibanez Roadstar II RS1000 CS(FOR SALE) because I was curious how it compared. The biggest different upfront was the weight. This guitar is very comfortable at 7 lbs 8 oz. The RS 1000 is a great example of the exceptional craftsmanship and the unique style Ibanez developed after the lawsuit era. It is a nice guitar but I am trying to trim my collection down. I made a video showing the guitar from multiple angles, demonstrating all the electronics and giving a few basic tonal examples.

The top of this guitar is beautiful. However I am a bit partial to cherry bursts and birdseye maple. There are light swirly scuffs from regular use; otherwise the top is in excellent condition. There are a few finish cracks and chips along the side(mainly the lower bout). The back of the body is in pretty good shape with normal scuff wear. The binding doesn't have any cracks. The neck is straight and in great shape. I just leveled, crowned and polished the frets. They look like new, have plenty of life left in them and play smoothly. The finish on the back of the neck has some light capo marks but aren't noticeable while playing. The head stock has a few chips on the tip. This guitar was modified by the previous owner. They put a second tone potentiometer where the input jack was originally. They cleanly drilled/added the input jack to the side of the guitar. They also cleanly drilled/added a two way selector switch to the top for coil splitting. These modifications were done very well and improve the tonal range of the guitar.

This guitar is fully functional and plays smoothly. The only exception is that the string locking mechanism for the bridge is no longer lockable for the high e string. However most people don't even bother with the Ibanez hard rocker pro tremolo locking system as it is very cumbersome to operate. I do a full demonstration of the electronics in my video. The bridge is set to floating with 10 gauge strings. I have redone all the electronics for the guitar. It now has a Gibson 490R in the neck and Gibson 490T in the bridge. These pickups make the guitar sound very honky and I'm not a fan. However I have tried Dimarzio super distortions in this guitar and the guitar can scream. If you don't end up loving the pickups then try another set.

I only ship within the contiguous United States. I will buy the shipping label through Reverb. It will most likely be via UPS Ground unless Reverb gets a better deal elsewhere.

This guitar is sold as described. I will not accept returns unless the guitar doesn't arrive in the condition I have described, photographed or video recorded.

Modifications: The previous owner put the second tone potentiometer where the input jack was originally and cleanly drilled/added an input jack on the side of the guitar. The previous owner also drilled a hole on the top to add a two way switch for coil splitting. The original volume and tone knobs have been replaced by non-original speed knobs. The tremolo arm is also not original. The string locking nuts/bolts are included but not installed(the high e nut/bolt no longer can lock). The pickups are non-original Gibson 490R neck and Gibson 490T bridge. The potentiometers, switches, input jack and wiring has been replaced. The pickup mounting rings have hole drilled to install the pickups.

Damage: There are few finish cracks; mainly along the bottom bout. There are a few chips on the top of the headstock. The top has light swirly scuffs from regular use. The hard rocker pro tremolo no longer locks for the high e string. The slot in the tremolo base has a chunk broken off that doesn't allow a locking nut and bolt to slot in the high e position. String locking for this tremolo is not necessary for functional playing. There is a hole in the plastic electronics cavity cover; which is covered internally with a piece of masking tape.
