*issue* This is one of the few Akai cassette decks that I cherish. Unfortunately, there is a small issue with the front button panel.
One technician told me it was an easy motor fix and that the buttons had nothing to do with it, another technician told me that the buttons are the problem when coming to the inability to stop and rewind. All the channels work, the door works when you press the open button. There is a door on the bottom of the cassette player that shows you more of the menu and it opens automatically which is really slick. The sound on this machine is one I can say rivals only that of my Tandberg 3004. It’s just amazing.
I added a few pictures so you can see that these do sell for very high prices online.
I believe one sold for over $1000 not too long ago and it had one channel working.
I’ve seen them from 1000 broken to 4000 working. The condition is very good in my opinion. There are a few scratches on the top but the front looks pretty good with exception of small scratch on motorized cover.
Not many of these come with both of the cassette doors but this one does.
So maybe there is someone out there who likes high-end equipment and can fix it, knows someone who can fix it, or I can find someone who can fix it. I would love to see this go to a great home where someone can enjoy it and I am not price gouging this piece whatsoever.
The piece or should I say the deck plays but you have to definitely put some work into the buttons. I was thinking of listing it for parts but I believe with the fix you will have a really awesome and rare cassette deck far cheaper than spending two to $4000 online for one.
