"This is the exact circuit found in the Model T and retains the same tonal characteristics as the original SUNN preamp. Since this is just the preamp it may be used before amps in a pedal chain, in an FX loop, into a power amp, or direct for recording or re-amping. All NOS or high quality capacitors are used in these. The preamp circuit runs off of a B+ voltage of 300+ volts, just like the original. With 2x 12AX7 preamp tubes."
As you can gather from the description above, this is a tube clone of the preamp section of a SUNN Model T. I've owned a few of the SUNN pedal clones, and while they were good, they don't compare to this. Tubes are still a thing for a reason. Jessup refers to it as a pedal, and while you could put it on a pedalboard, it's quite a bit larger and heavier than your average pedal. I always ran this into a tube amp FX return and it sounds awesome. Per Jessup the controls are the same as the original minus the presence control. If you dime the volume, the furthest right control, it gets LOUD. Seriously loud. The "both" input is for running the Normal and Bright channels simultaneously. It takes pedals very well. If you have a RAT or two, you know what to do.
A possible caveat for some - there is a hum the louder you crank it. It did this new out of the box. My assumption is that its an exact clone of the original, and old amps weren't as quiet as more modern stuff. It's not overbearing nor does it interfere with the sound. Personally it didn't bother me, but it should be noted for any potential buyer. Honesty is a good policy :)
The metal enclosure has a patina on the bare metal parts. The empty hole above the "both" input was there day one and there's nothing actually missing. The hand writing on the case is from Jessup and not me. They seemed to be more about the sound than the finish, which is cool with me, because it sounds great. It is also recommend to use a speaker cable from the output, rather than an instrument cable.
A power cord will be included. Also, it's much bigger than the average pedal, and weighs 3.5 lbs, so the shipping will reflect that.
