This tape recorder was designed as a measuring one, but it can also record music in stereo almost 1: 1 as well as from an internal preamp! I was amazed at how good the sound is, even the long-sold stereo tape recorder Nagra I liked less in sound than this tape recorder. Maybe the whole point is in "Burl Brown" module ZM0053) frequency converter and first-class components from resistors to capacitors! The power supply unit has an integrated grounding wire with a banana plug, see the photo and the socket plug is also new, you can install an "Ferrite ring" in the plug to get rid of high-frequency interference like the hi-end industry does, (if you ask me to do it, can i)!
The ZM 0053 modules are used as an additional stereo source (has a different sound for your experiments) for recording and playback (if you have an old tape recording, this module will not read it, it will be read by the ZE 0299 stereo module! But the ZM 0053 module will record new stereo signal and reproduce your recording with superb fidelity, which amazed me! The ZE 0299 module has a traditional stereo channel for recording and playback of new and recorded tapes on a traditional tape recorder, it also has excellent and accurate sound, signal-to-noise ratio when I recorded the signal I have not heard any noise on Basf tape from the 90s, but of course it is better to use a new tape, for example, a French factory (LPR 35–90, RMG)! Be careful when buying an old tape from the 70s and 80s - even a sealed tape can crumble and block head unit)! If you have recorded music - a signal, it is better to erase it with the modules turned off so that it will be erased without noise!
The sound is heard very denamically and almost transparent but analog!
There are also two microphone preamps on the compressor expander ZM 0054 module, connectors for them: (FGG 0B pin connector for Arri Alexa camera audio devices) (Pin 4 ground, Pin 3 signal!) can be bought on ALI EX Chinese sites, for stereo microphone recording, you need to rearrange the ZE 0029 module from channel 1 to channel 3! I placed the stereo module ZE 0029 in channel 1 and channel 4 as it seems to me that this improves the stereo recording!
You can use this recorder as a preamplifier as it also has a ZM 0054 compander (compressor expander) with compressor and expander! You can send a stereo signal from your computer and compress or expand the drums, then send it back to your computer or record to tape in real time!
The size of this tape recorder is double Rack, I will tell the real buyer how to record it if he does not understand!
