About This Listing

Does your favorite snare drum have an umlaut in the name? No I didn’t think so. Well here’s the thing now it does and it’s right here.

Haüp made some really cool drums in Germany throughout the 70’s/80’s for the European market, it’s rare that you find them in the USA. It must have been brought over on the Scorpions “Winds of Change” tour when they were filling the minds of the world with anti-communist messages that were obviously written by the CIA. This is the snare that brought the wall down right here, people.

This snare seriously rules. Snare drums can creep their way into your life like how an old Halloween costume becomes part of your regular clothes rotation. I got it, practiced with it, played a show with it, recorded with it, and then it just stayed as my #1 for a solid year and a half. It’s sensitive and delicate, it can get those Purdie shuffle ghost notes, but it can also be loud and aggressive when you lay into it hard. It’s a super dynamic and musical drum, all the tones are beautiful when you take it all the way up or down. The best metal snares have some qualities of a wood snare in there, and this one definitely has that. Some metal snares are just too loud, this one is the perfect volume.

Stays in tune like a champ! It actually stays in tune a lot better than the actual Supraphonic I replaced it with lol. I want to keep it, but I have snares for days. I put on a Remo Emperor that has 95% of its life left. Great drum!!
