 COMMENTS:

As I have noted in other ads, I am always in pursuit of the ultimate handmade custom guitar that is modeled on a well-known piece such as the Telecaster, Stratocaster, Les Paul, SG, Explorer, et al. Here is another one that I bought in the search for the ULTIMATE FLYING V and STRATOCASTER.

It is A VERY UNIQUE ONE OF A KIND PIECE HAND MADE BY DAN O’VADKA.

Look at the photos.

It is well crafted. Dan has successfully combined the beauty of fine woods with their tonal qualities while merging the features of the Gibson Flying V and the Fender Stratocaster to create this unique instrument.

As to SOUND, read the details in the ad. Dan has done an amazing job of making this the ULTIMATE TONE MACHINE.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a collector/player to get a CUSTOM HANDCRAFTED GUITAR that is in VERY GOOD CONDITION.

ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT:

This FLYING V was custom made by DAN O’VADKA. According to a previous owner, it was a commission piece built to his specifications. This is what we know about this fine guitar:

The BODY is made of very high grade MAHOGANY with a WALNUT top (we were informed that Mr. O’Vadka handpicks his wood). In this case, the wood is outstanding in color and depth.

The BODY is HOLLOW which gives it a great sustain and deep tone.

The NECK is “like a Strat” and is three piece MAPLE.

The FRETBOARD is ROSEWOOD and has 22 FRETS.

The FRETS are made of a “tall medium wire”. They are very well dressed.

PICKUPS are beautiful handmade PORTER “Smooth-Classic” Set in Open Nickel Covers with Nigerian Satinwood Inserts
The Smooth-Classic is Porter’s bestselling humbucker set. It goes great in a wide variety of guitars and gives a great range of tones from neck to bridge. The Smooth (AlNiCo 2) humbucker is great in the neck for blues, Jazz chord work. It stays clean without getting too flubby, and has just the right amount of low end. The Classic (AlNiCo 5) in the bridge gives you a great lead tone, and can cover several styles. The middle position is a nice blend of low and high for a snappy tone.

The BRIDGE (recessed) is a FISHMAN ACOUSTIC (features an onboard Fishman Pre-Amp for the PIEZO equipped FISHMAN VIBRATO BRIDGE). There is a control knob to add this “acoustic sound” to the other two pickups which provide a “wall of sound”. The “electronics are ACTIVE”

The TUNERS are GOTOH.

Additional information about the KNOBS (superb pots) and SWITCHES:

(It is helpful if you look at the picture of the GUITAR showing the knobs and switches from the bottom of the guitar from LEFT to RIGHT).

1. First knob from back of guitar is for TONE.

2. Second knob is VOLUME for the FISHMAN Acoustic Bridge Pickup.

3. Next TOGGLE SWITCH is for coil splitting on BRIDGE PICKUP which allows you to “toggle” between a single-coil sound and humbucking sound.

4. The next LARGE TOGGLE SWITCH is the PICKUP SELECTOR. Up is for Bridge PU.

5. Next small TOGGLE SWITCH is IN PHASE/OUT OF PHASE (can only be used when both pickups are selected and active). Gives you the ability to set one pickup “out of phase” with the other when both are selected. (Brian May trick).

6. LAST KNOB is MASTER VOLUME for NECK and BRIDGE PICKUPS.

This RARE combination of electronics (pickups, switches etc.) allows you to make this guitar sound any way you want it. The TONE can go from a Les Paul to a Strat and everywhere in between. This is an AMAZING guitar.

The combination of Walnut and Mahogany wood for the body gives this guitar incredible sustain.

NOTE: This is not a perfect guitar cosmetically. It shows seams where the body wood was glued together. And the finish is spotted in some places. That is not unusual for a handmade guitar built by one person. Structurally and electronically, it is in excellent condition. And the sound is superb.

O'VADKA GUITARS

BUILDING AND SERVICING SINCE 1991

“For me, building a great instrument requires more than the application of my knowledge and skills to the materials that I begin with. It is an evolving process where I must blend the best elements of contemporary design, function and traditional craftsmanship. Each time I build an instrument, there are new challenges that come from the specific design and materials that I am using. These modify the routine processes of guitar making and change craftsmanship into the art of building a fine, unique instrument.”

“There are many elusive characteristics that define a fine instrument. I strive for rich quality, evenness and flexibility of tone, tonal reserve, superior projection and ample volume.”

“In addition, my instruments must be uncompromising in their structure, details and finish. They must satisfy their owners by being beaut” Signed: “ DAN O'VADKA.”

The case is original and very large.
