Late 1970s Iida Model 229 5 string resonator banjo with gig bag.

Geared tuners, 5th string tuner upgraded to geared tuner, adjustable tension tailpiece. The head is original to the banjo.

Fleur-de-lis inlay in headstock and pearloid blockish inlays in the fingerboard.

Mahogany neck

This is an archtop banjo--they tend to be brighter than flathead banjos. Made from one piece diecast aluminum body.

We set this banjo up with light gauge strings for bluegrass style 3-finger playing. The frets were seated, lightly dressed and polished.

The instrument is in excellent cosmetic condition. We observed some light finish checking in the finish on the resonator. The usual number of light fine scratches typical of a 40 year old banjo. The truss rod does turn and adjusts the relief in the neck.

The banjo comes with a Rogue gig bag that is quite roomy. This bag is good for home storage or careful trips to lessons. The bag is like new other than a few cat hairs.
