- I have owned this guitar from new. It is the top of the Variax line, this electric acoustic modeling guitar is one impressive instrument. Has the heft, feel and action of a PRS, the looks of a thinline acoustic and the voices of history's most valued model guitars and other acoustic instruments. These out of production (2010) instruments are prized and highly sought after by acoustic performers due to their extreme sound versatility and instant alternative tuning ability which allow this guitar to take the place of many. Rarely seen for sale. This guitar still has the plastic attached from new.

Line 6 VARIAX Acoustic 700 - 6-String Electric Acoustic Modeling Guitar for Direct Recording and Live Performance
The Line 6 VARIAX Acoustic 700 is a unique six-string electric acoustic guitar with a custom bridge, featuring a translucent carved-top cedar over mahogany body, one-piece mahogany neck, and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with deluxe pearl snowflake inlays. The guitar is equipped with a piezo pickup, and 16 sound models based on classic 6- and 12-string acoustic steel and nylon string guitars, resonators, a Dobro, and several exotic world plucked string instruments from Japan and India .
The piezo pickup on the VARIAX Acoustic 700 essentially captures the vibrations of each individual string, and those signals are processed through the onboard software algorithms that comprise the physical and acoustic properties of the modeled guitars. The instruments are chosen with a Model selector knob, which doubles as an access control to a set of on-board alternate tunings - a very handy feature for live performance, eliminating the need for multiple, separately-tuned instruments on stage.
