Customized to accompany Debut Reference tower and bookshelf speakers to create a high-value, high-performance surround system, the ELAC Debut Reference DCR52 brings the company's fabled quality and engineer Andrew Jones' design prowess to a center-channel speaker intent on reproducing dialogue, effects, nuances, and voices with involving realism and immediacy. Given the original Debut Series didn't have a center-channel model, Jones and company ensured everything about Debut Reference DCR52 lived up to its name.

From the inside to the outside, Debut Reference DCR52 touts from-the-bottom-up acoustical technology and architecture. A new waveguide and open-grill design improve high-frequency response. A dual flared slot port increases bass output and dynamics. Two new, 5.25-inch cast chassis woofers – loaded with oversized ceramic magnets for powerful bass; aramid fiber cones for control; a woven fiber spider for excellent linearity and stability; low carbon-steel top and bottom plates for high magnetic conductivity; and a butyl rubber surround for inherent damping – minimize resonances and supply robust, full, dynamic extension. New, full-perimeter bracing joins the top and side panels all the while lessening cabinet colorations. Jones' one-inch cloth dome tweeter sings. Measuring 9.52 x 20.74 x 7.28 inches (HWD), with 86db sensitivity and a 55Hz-35kHz frequency response, the two-way bass reflex design also has a CARB2-rated MDF cabinet, five-way metal binding posts, and a magnetic fabric grille.
